Honey Bee Stitch Along

In July and August we are hosting the

Honey Bee Stitch Along

Our first event and we’re getting excited and we hope you’ll join in and make this gorgeous project along with us.

Bee’s, flowers, stitching and hexagons.  What do they all have in common?    They are all parts of the Honey Bee Stitch Along, starting at the end of July 2017.

Who can do this project?

This pattern is terrific to get you back into embroidery, or to get you started.  There will be an easy to maintain time schedule to allow for those who are working but like to have a project to work on during their spare time.

We love to make things that are useful as well as pretty so this pattern fits the criteria really well.  The project is small enough to make it easily completed but includes a few techniques to make it interesting.

We’ll show you how to make the stitches we use and an alternate stitch to the one slightly challenging stitch we’ve used.   In other words, this project could be for anyone, beginner or experienced. Ours are made in different fabric, and using a variety of embroidery threads and colour combinations. What’s the timeline?

We’ll spend the first 3 weeks stitching, then a week of hexagon making, then the final week is putting it all together.

Yes that’s a 5 week timeline. Nice and easy, no pressure.   If you feel confident, I’m sure you can work ahead, you’ll have the pattern.

We’d love for you to share your pictures online and use the hashtag #ssqhoneybee.  This way we’ll be able to find your pictures.

Where can I find the pattern?

here’s the link to the pattern on our website.   Good news, it’s on sale until we start our stitch along! What fabric do I need?

You can make this pattern from a variety of fabric, either all coordinated, all scrappy, colourful or monotone. The choice is yours.  We’ve used quilting cottons for this project and stabilizer on the back of the embroidered panels.  Quantities are given in the pattern.

Are there prizes?

As we are keen to encourage you to stitch along with us and so we have 3 lovely gifts to be awarded at the end of the stitch along.

You’ll need to be following both Instagram accounts and share a picture of your stitching or sewing each week to be eligible for any prizes. Please post pictures on your chosen social media and use the hashtag #ssqhoneybee.

Where should I post pictures?

On Instagram if you have an account or there will be a post each week on our facebook page where you can share you pictures.
