March – 2021 Monthly Colour Challenge

What is this year long plan?

The Monthly Color Challenge will begin it’s fourth year January 1st, and I am excited to join in the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge. This year we’re getting our inspiration from Fruits and Veggies.

Each month there is a change in colour and a new block. You can see all the colours to come this year at this post on Jen’s blog. Jen also shares all the info on what you need and you can choose to sign up to receive the block sent straight to your inbox.

My block for March

Here’s my block for March, the colour for this month is Red Orange for Yam or as we call them in Australia, Sweet potato.

I have planned a consistent background of the dark charcoal grey and will be adding the feature colour color. There are a plethora of scraps in my studio so I have vowed to sew from them if I possibly can.

So if you are keen to sew along with us this year, yes there’s a layout design for you at the end of the year, head over to Jen’s blog and join in. The blocks are free for the release month, and you can have them sent to your inbox, Oh and each block comes with a How To video right in the instructions.

My Tip to you.

Watch the piecing diagrams, so your block ends up the same as Jen’s and mine. Use that old adage, measure twice cut once. In this case, check position twice, then piece correctly. I almost did it the other way.

Recipe fun…

Seriously sweet potatoes are better than white potatoes. So much flavour and goodness. Google it and see that I am right, they are actually better for you.

Cooking them; peel and toss them in a little oil and salt and bake in the oven until they start to caramelise. Oh the goodness. Even better, whilst they are baking you can get some sewing done

Happy Sewing
